Interior Design Project Manager

Bailey Davol Studio Build, a creative design/build construction firm based in Jamaica Plain, is looking for an experienced Interior Design Project Manager to lead all interior design selections and procurement for renovation projects. This role focuses on coordinating client materials and finishes, as well as procurement, purchasing, and coordination. This is a client-facing, detail-driven role for a design champion who thrives at the intersection of design, operations, and execution.

Key Responsibilities

Design Selections

  • Develop cohesive interior finish palettes aligned with project scope, budget, and schedule

  • Source and specify all interior selections (cabinetry, countertops, tile, plumbing, lighting, hardware, flooring, appliances, paint, etc.)

  • Present selections to clients and guide decision-making with clarity and confidence

Procurement & Purchasing

  • Place and manage orders for all design-related materials and products

  • Facilitate invoicing of clients for all selections

  • Track lead times, deliveries, backorders, and changes

  • Coordinate with vendors, showrooms, and trade partners

  • Manage returns, exchanges, damages, and warranty issues

  • Maintain accurate selection logs and procurement documentation

Project Coordination

  • Collaborate closely with estimators, project managers, and lead carpenters

  • Support pricing, value engineering, and constructability reviews

  • Communicate selection-related impacts to schedule and budget

  • Participate in site visits to confirm requirements and resolve design questions

  • Create SOPs and systems in collaboration with Office Manager

Client Experience

  • Serve as the primary design contact during the selections phase

  • Keep clients informed of timelines, approvals, and next steps

  • Balance client preferences with construction realities

  • Create and manage client’s End-of-Project Manual 

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of professional interior design experience (residential renovation or design/build a plus)

  • Degree in Interior Design or related field a plus

  • Strong knowledge of residential materials, finishes, and fixtures

  • Proven experience with purchasing, procurement, and vendor coordination

  • Highly organized with excellent attention to detail

  • Strong communication and time-management skills

  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously

  • Experience with Google Workspace required

  • Experience with Buildertrend and similar platforms a plus

  • This is a 30-40 hour per week position, ultimately 40 hours per week as project schedule expands
